keeping a float

Went out last night to the liquiddrom. It is a spa / badhaus of sorts that is a popular spot now. The main event is a big, very salty pool that has hip but relaxing music piped into the water and a few funky lights on the ceiling etc. People, couples, etc. go there and float around. The place is really quite nice and very relaxing. They have a few other pools including a big hot tub in the courtyard, sauna, steamroom etc. There is a cafe that serves light food and drinks and loungechairs etc. for lazing. Like on the beaches, not everyone wears clothes but it is no big deal.
After floating for a few hours we swung by the big Sony building at Potsdamer platz for a bite to eat and tourist watching, then home to our sleeping children. (Unfortunately, we missed the start of all of the movies (some in Original form (ie. English w/ subtitles)). We found a babysitter through one of the mothers at Kindergarden and it is working out well. Unfortunately she will start a 3 mo. practicum soon and will be out of commission. Enjoy it while we can.
Today, I checked out a bigger, more upscale supermarket in the neighborhood. I kind of felt like I was shopping in Moscow during the cold war in some of the cheap ones (especially as compared to the Bay Area). The shelfs have big boxes with assorted items on them, no presentation, nothing fancy, sort of a random collection of goods. Everything is in packaging, nothing fresh.
This supermarket was much more like one you would find in the US and I must say I took some comfort in the presentation and selection. Unfortunately, a fat mouse was running around the floor in the produce section so I didn't buy much there. Perhaps this is just big city living. I'll give it another try sometime.
